Goalkeeper pushes ball boy to the ground during match; Cliftonville v Carrick Rangers; Northern Ireland Football League

A goalkeeper going through sanctions from the Irish football federation has apologised following an incident final week throughout which he appeared to shove a ball boy to the bottom.

The incident came about through the first half of a match between Cliftonville and Carrick Rangers within the Northern Eire Soccer League.

Video footage printed by the BBC confirmed Carrick Rangers goalkeeper Jack McIntyre pushing the boy to the bottom after he handed the ball over to the goalkeeper.

Carrick Rangers, which misplaced the match 3-0, stated in an announcement the membership and McIntyre wish to apologise “for any misery triggered,” including that it “may also endeavour to make contact with the ball tender and their household.”

Native media reported that the Northern Eire police service stated enquiries into the incident had been persevering with.

The referee didn’t ebook McIntyre for his gesture.

“Any inside disciplinary investigation will, in accordance with employment good apply, stay confidential between the worker and employer,” Carrick Rangers added.

Carrick Rangers boss Stephen Baxter insisted he missed the incident when questioned post-match, saying: “I actually did not see it, I heard the group roaring, however I did not see any push, so I’ve nothing to say.”

Cliftonville supervisor Jim Magilton stated: “If he has carried out that then he’s fortunate and solely he’ll know.

“I have never seen it again so I am unable to remark, but when he has put fingers on the ball boy and that’s the rule then he was fortunate to not be despatched off.

“You will should ask Jack McIntyre whether or not he laid fingers on the boy or not.”
