For many years linguists have argued over how kids study language. Some suppose that infants are born as “clean slates” who choose up language merely from expertise—listening to, seeing and taking part in with the world. Others argue that have shouldn’t be sufficient and that infants’ brains should be hardwired to make buying language straightforward.
