San Antonio anchor Stephania Jimenez fumed Saturday over a press conference that featured Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott thanking one another and President Donald Trump as an alternative of giving quick updates on the deadly floods in central Texas.

Different officers did the identical and gushed over the emergency response, delaying pertinent particulars by almost a half-hour, she stated. (Watch the video under.)

“What I used to be struck by is that we actually didn’t get any concrete data till 27 minutes into that information convention the place you had the governor communicate, you had Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem communicate for some time,” KSAT’s Jimenez stated. “However what individuals are wanting is data.”

″… I don’t know what it’s about individuals who run for federal workplace that every time disasters like this occur, they take it upon themselves to first listing all of the names of individuals they wish to thank. Um, not what we wish to hear proper now.”

Noem and the opposite officers didn’t take questions till 26 minutes and 30 seconds into the presser, after Abbott performatively confirmed himself signing a disaster-aid request for Trump, declaring the president’s love for Texas, expressing gratitude to Trump and asking for prayers a number of occasions.

Noem thanked Abbott and talked about how she had talked repeatedly with Trump concerning the tragedy.

Different officers, together with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), adopted in the identical vein, thanking Trump, Abbott and Noem.

Many of the members bragged concerning the response to the tragedy, seemingly to attain political factors.

“In the event that they don’t have the newest data that they can provide us, they need to have stated so,” Jimenez added. “My level is that they spent means too lengthy thanking one another. And that is one thing that’s bipartisan. We see it every time there’s a catastrophe. Doesn’t matter which president is in workplace. For some purpose federal leaders are likely to thank one another for a very long time earlier than they inform us what we really need.”

Jimenez hoped that leaders would get the message for the following press gathering on the catastrophe, which has claimed at the least 82 lives since torrential rain generated flash floods in central Texas.

“Persons are on pins and needles ready,” she stated.
