Shannon Sharpe Won’t Return To ESPN Following Rape Lawsuit Settlement

Former soccer star and media persona Shannon Sharpe is not going to return to his internet hosting duties at ESPN following a settlement with an ex-girlfriend who accused him of rape, based on a number of reviews.

On Wednesday, two weeks after the settlement was reached with Sharpe’s accuser, ESPN formally lower ties with him, The Athletic first reported. ESPN declined to remark to the publication.

The NFL Corridor of Famer stated in April he was going to “temporarily step aside” from his position as a soccer analyst after the $50 million lawsuit towards him was filed.

The girl, known as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, stated she was 20 when she first met Sharpe at a Los Angeles gymnasium in 2023. After a “rocky consensual relationship” for practically two years, the girl alleged that it turned “abusive.”

The lawsuit accused Sharpe of forcing the girl right into a automobile, then forcing her to present him oral intercourse earlier than anally raping her. In one other occasion in January, the lawsuit stated Sharpe sexually assaulted the girl with no condom.

Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, announced the settlement in a July 18 submit on X, however didn’t specify the phrases of the settlement.

“Either side acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship,” Buzbee stated. “After protracted and respectful negotiations, I’m happy to announce that we have now reached a mutually agreed upon decision.
