Former Main League Baseball star Mark Teixeira introduced Thursday that he’s operating for the Republican nomination for a Home seat in Texas.
The previous slugger for the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees stated he’s operating for the twenty first District seat at present held by Republican Rep. Chip Roy. Roy has stated he’s not searching for reelection and is operating for Texas lawyer basic.
“As a proud Texan and lifelong conservative who loves our nation, I’m able to combat for the ideas that make Texas sturdy and America distinctive,” Teixeira stated in a press release posted on X. “It takes teamwork to win, and I’m prepared to assist defend President Trump’s America First agenda, Texas households and particular person liberty.”
Teixeira started his profession with the Rangers, and was the fifth total choose within the 2001 MLB draft. The twenty first Congressional District covers a deeply conservative space west of each Austin and San Antonio. Teixeira introduced his bid days after Republicans within the state Legislature permitted a redistricting map meant to favor the GOP within the 2026 election.
