Scottish govt to ‘step in’ to sponsor care home workers after skilled worker visa axed | Politics News

The Scottish authorities will sponsor care residence employees after Sir Keir Starmer modified the expert employee visa this 12 months, Scotland’s first minister has introduced.

John Swinney, giving his keynote speech on the Scottish National Party (SNP) convention, mentioned the federal government will “step in” to sponsor “a whole lot of devoted employees” to allow them to “work, pay tax and assist preserve Scotland’s care houses operating”.

He mentioned they may be capable of “begin work instantly”.

In July, the federal government halted new abroad purposes for the social care employee visa, an arm of the expert employee visa.

Mr Swinney additionally mentioned the Scottish authorities will open a community of walk-in GP companies throughout Scotland.
