US cools talk of delivering Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine over fears of ‘escalation’ | World News

Ukraine’s hopes of securing Tomahawk missiles have been dashed by the US over fears it could spark an escalation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has advised.

US President Donald Trump met with the Ukrainian president on the White Home on Friday for the third time this 12 months.

Mr Zelenskyy’s precedence would have doubtless been securing Tomahawk missiles after three years of battle with Russia, which was left anxious by the prospect.

The weapons have a considerably longer vary than every other missiles in Ukraine’s armoury.

Whereas Mr Trump didn’t rule out offering the Tomahawk missiles, he appeared cool to the prospect as he appeared forward to a gathering with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary within the coming weeks.

Later in a put up on X, Mr Zelenskyy mentioned he was relying on President Trump to “convey this battle nearer to an finish”.

Following the assembly, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed he had known as Mr Zelenskyy to reiterate his help.
