The U.S. Treasury Division on Wednesday levied sanctions towards Russia’s two largest oil corporations in what the company framed as a response to Russia’s failure to decide to a peace course of in Ukraine.
“Given President [Vladimir] Putin’s refusal to finish this mindless warfare, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil corporations that fund the Kremlin’s warfare machine,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned in an announcement. “Now could be the time to cease the killing and for a right away ceasefire.”

The sanctions have an effect on Lukoil and Rosneft. The 2 corporations collectively are chargeable for almost half of Russia’s crude oil exports, that are a key income for the Russian authorities. The UK issued sanctions towards the 2 corporations last week.
