German Chancellor seeks "right balance" in his first official visit to China

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is visiting China on a two-day journey beginning Wednesday.  He is the newest in a string of Western leaders to try to search new partnerships with the Asian big in latest weeks, amid Donald Trump’s commerce conflict in opposition to the remainder of the world.  It is a delicate balancing act for the German chief because the nation’s business has been squeezed by competitors from China.
