Russian air defences could have shot down an Azerbaijan Airways flight after misidentifying it, in accordance with US army sources.

Two unnamed officers who spoke to Sky Information’ US accomplice NBC Information stated America had intelligence indicating Russia could have believed the flight was a drone and engaged its air defences.

Throughout its flight, it turned towards Kazakhstan and later crashed around two miles from Aktau whereas attempting to land after flying east throughout the Caspian Sea.

The crash killed 38 folks and left the entire 29 survivors injured.

Azerbaijan noticed a nationwide day of mourning after the incident – as footage from inside the aircraft emerged.

Passengers and crew who survived the crash informed Azerbaijani media that they heard loud noises because the plane was circling over Grozny.

Aydan Rahimli, a flight attendant, stated that after one noise oxygen masks had been routinely launched and he or she went to carry out first support on a colleague, Zulfugar Asadov, after which heard one other bang.

Two different survivors described their experiences on the flight.

Jerova Salihat informed Azerbaijani tv that “one thing exploded” close to her leg and Vafa Shabanova stated there had been “two explosions within the sky, and an hour and a half later the airplane crashed to the bottom.”

If confirmed the airplane crashed after being hit by Russian air defences, it might be the second lethal aviation incident linked to the Kremlin’s battle with Ukraine.
