Donald Trump Jr. will go to Greenland this week after his father, President-elect Donald Trump, steered final month that the U.S. ought to take possession of the Danish territory “for the aim of nationwide safety.”

Trump Jr. will head to the island on Tuesday for a brief video shoot for a podcast and has no plans to satisfy with any authorities officers, The Associated Press reported. Denmark’s overseas ministry added to CNN that the journey just isn’t an “official American go to” and, as such, it had no additional touch upon the matter.

The president-elect confirmed the go to in a submit on his Truth Social platform, saying he had heard the individuals of Greenland “are ‘MAGA’” whereas vowing that the island would profit “tremendously” underneath U.S. management.

Trump re-upped his suggestion that the U.S. take management of Greenland late final month after first saying in 2019 that he was weighing a “giant actual property deal” to purchase the autonomous territory.

“For functions of Nationwide Safety and Freedom all through the World, the US of America feels that the possession and management of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” the president-elect said last month whereas asserting his selection for U.S. ambassador to Denmark.

Each then and now the feedback have come as a shock to officers in Greenland and Denmark, who’ve dismissed the ideas and mentioned the island was not on the market.

“Greenland is ours,” Múte Egede, Greenland’s prime minister, mentioned in an announcement final month. “We’re not on the market and can by no means be on the market. We should not lose our years-long combat for freedom.”
