A former England and Premier League footballer has been arrested in Essex on suspicion of tried rape.
The suspect, who was arrested on Sunday, can’t be named for authorized causes.
He has been bailed to a date in late February whereas Essex Police proceed their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the drive mentioned: “A person has been arrested on suspicion of tried rape and has been bailed to a date in late February 2026 whereas we proceed our enquiries.”
