Former Rep. Dave Trott (R-Mich.) has lifted the lid on how present Home Republicans actually really feel throughout President Donald Trump’s second time period.
“Members I’ve saved in contact with are depressing, and the deplorable state of affairs in our Capitol right now is actually a driving issue behind many current lawmakers’ resignations,” he wrote in an op-ed for The Daily Beast printed on Tuesday. Learn the total op-ed at The Daily Beast.
Firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced she was quitting Congress final week amid a cut up with Trump over a number of points, and a senior Home Republican this week reportedly predicted that “extra explosive early resignations are coming.”
Congress was “utterly dysfunctional” when Trott served from 2015 to 2019, nearly all of which was Trump’s first time period, he wrote.
However it’s solely “gotten worse” and “extra poisonous” with the main focus now being solely on “beating the opposite celebration” and “enjoying the blame recreation,” he stated.
Trott slammed Trump as “King Donald” for his use of govt orders and clarified: “Let’s be clear, Trump’s govt department is being run by a bunch of sycophants, felons and idiots.”
