Hundreds of scientists accuse Donald Trump of censorship

More than 1,900 scientists and engineers have signed a letter saying they “see actual hazard on this second” because the Trump administration slashes federal help for scientific analysis.

“Smart investments by the US authorities have constructed up the nation’s analysis enterprise, making it the envy of the world,” says the open letter printed on Monday. “Astoundingly, the Trump administration is destabilizing this enterprise by gutting funding for analysis, firing hundreds of scientists, eradicating public entry to scientific information, and pressuring researchers to change or abandon their work on ideological grounds.”

The letter was penned by members of the Nationwide Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medication, which was created by Congress beneath President Abraham Lincoln to advise policymakers.
