Mom of Murdered Boy Gabriel Fernandez Says Guilty Plea ‘Coerced’

After Pearl Fernandez pleaded responsible to killing her 8-year-old son Gabriel Fernandez, she is now claiming she was “coerced” into getting into a responsible plea and is requesting that she be resentenced.

Fernandez, 42, was sentenced to life in jail with out the opportunity of parole in March 2018 in connection to Gabriel’s demise in 2013.

She has since filed two resentencing petitions, with the latest submitting claiming that the state-appointed protection legal professional who represented her “supplied ineffective help of counsel” and “coerced me into signing a plea of guilt for a sentence of life with out [the] risk of parole,” in accordance with KABC.
