‘Sami rights are at risk’: Reindeer herders, environmentalists oppose mine in Norway's Arctic

In Norway’s far north, members of the Sami minority and environmental activists try to dam the development of a copper mine. Whereas Norwegian authorities and the undertaking’s Canadian house owners put it up for sale as a contributor to the inexperienced transition, critics warn it would pollute a close-by fjord and disrupt reindeer herding.
