Islamist rebels who seized Syria’s second-largest metropolis, Aleppo, continued to push south on Sunday, an enormous embarrassment for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his navy. The insurgents’ advance comes at a time when Assad’s allies — Iran and teams it backs and Russia — are preoccupied with their very own conflicts.
