An open burr of the American chestnut tree. Functionally extinct for the reason that mid-Twentieth century, the American Chestnut Basis has been spearheading a multi-pronged strategy to carry the tree again to life.

The American Chestnut Basis

Within the early Twentieth century, a blight fungus worn out a lot of the 4 billion American chestnut timber on the japanese seaboard. The loss was ecologically devastating. Quick Wave host Emily Kwong dives deep into how scientists try to resurrect the American chestnut tree — and in regards to the controversy over a plan to plant genetically modified chestnuts within the wild.
