Woman and three teenagers arrested over M&S, Co-op and Harrods cyber attacks | UK News

4 folks have been arrested by police investigating cyber assaults focusing on M&S, Co-op and Harrods.

A 20-year-old girl and two males, each aged 19, and one other aged 17, have been detained in London and the West Midlands as a part of a Nationwide Crime Company (NCA) operation.

They have been arrested at their houses on suspicion of Pc Misuse Act offences, blackmail, cash laundering and taking part within the actions of an organised crime group.

M&S halted online orders, and cabinets have been empty in outlets after the cyber assault on the retailer earlier this yr.

Paul Foster, head of the NCA’s Nationwide cybercrime unit described the arrests as a “important step” of their investigation, which stays “one of many company’s highest priorities”.

The arrests, which occurred early on Thursday morning, have been supported by officers from the West Midlands regional organised crime unit and the East Midlands particular operations unit.

Days after M&S was attacked, the Co-op was targeted and compelled to close down some inside methods.

Harrods was then hacked, and in addition needed to shut some methods regardless of its web site and outlets persevering with to function.

Of these arrested, the 17-year-old British male and a 19-year-old Latvian male are from the West Midlands.

One other 19-year-old man is from London and the lady from Staffordshire.

An M&S spokesperson mentioned: “We welcome this improvement and thank the NCA for its diligent work on this incident.”
