World Obesity Day: India grapples with growing health crisis

After the US and China, India has the third-highest proportion of overweight residents on the earth, with over 135 million Indians classed as chubby or overweight. In mild of this alarming development, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide anti-obesity marketing campaign. Rising weight problems charges are in the meantime including to diabetes instances, with India counting 212 million recognized adults in 2022. Some Indians coping with weight problems are turning to bariatric surgical procedures that assist scale back meals consumption by eradicating part of the abdomen, whereas others desire conventional strategies comparable to acupuncture. FRANCE 24’s Khansa Juned and Lisa Gamonet report.
